Meet Your Guitar Coach

Hi, I’m David Uys, founder of Groove Guitar School. I’ve been playing guitar since 2010 and teaching music since 2018, with countless live shows under my belt across South Africa. I specialize in electric, acoustic, bass, and ukulele, covering a wide range of styles like fingerstyle, pop, metal, funk, and more.

I started Groove Guitar School to offer lessons that are tailored to each student’s goals, learning style, and musical taste. My approach is all about making music fun, engaging, and easy to understand, while building strong foundations along the way. I also provide custom resources like practice routines, lesson recaps, and quick videos to support students between lessons.

I hold a Grade 8 Rockschool practical qualification and currently perform weekly in a professional live setting. I’m passionate about helping students grow, and I’m committed to guiding each one with patience, creativity, and enthusiasm. Let’s work together to take your playing to the next level.
